Experience and background

Matt Cornner is Vice President of Executive Development Solutions with Advisory Board. In this capacity, Matt serves as solutions executive, co-creator, and faculty member for the Advisory Board Fellowship, the firm’s signature leadership development offering for rising executives, designed to help organizations achieve breakthrough organizational performance and competitive advantage.

Matt’s areas of focus include purpose-driven strategy, organizational transformation, adaptive leadership, adult development, executive team effectiveness, and executive coaching.

In addition to his many years with Advisory Board, Matt spent time during his earlier career on Capitol Hill, where he built a grassroots political network for the Episcopal Church, USA. Matt also spent three years as an executive search consultant with Witt Kieffer. Matt holds an MA in political management from The George Washington University and a BA in international relations from UC Santa Barbara.

Matt lives in Darnestown, Maryland just outside Washington, D.C., with his teenager, Alex and 13-year-old Morkie, Theo.  When he is not helping leaders navigate complexity, he likes to read, spend time with his amazing friends (especially over a great meal, and bake cakes, cookies, and pies with Alex.
