How Covid-19 has changed consumer behavior and preferences

• Tool in brief: To shed light on exactly how Covid-19 has impacted consumer behavior, lifestyle, and health care preferences, we surveyed more than 7,000 adult consumers aged 18-93 in June 2020.
• Use this to: Learn how Covid-19 has changed virtual visit utilization and site of care preferences in health care.

• Health Care Experience Survey: We asked 3,225 consumers in a web-based survey about their health care frictions. We defined a friction as “anything that inhibits a consumer from intuitively and painlessly achieving their goals causing the consumer to hesitate or abandon the health care interaction altogether.” Some examples of frictions that we asked about include: “I waited too long on the phone to schedule doctor’s appointment”, “The online portal was too difficult to navigate so I gave up,” and “My insurer incorrectly told me the facility was in-network”.
