Around the nation: Want a coronavirus test? In Oakland, you can get one in a vending machine.

Oakland International Airport is the first airport in the country to offer at-home coronavirus tests from a vending machine. People can purchase the $150 saliva-sample tests from machines in each terminal in the airport, in today's bite-sized hospital and health industry news from California, Florida, and Oklahoma.

  • California: Oakland International Airport is the first airport in the country to offer at-home coronavirus tests from a vending machine. People can purchase the $150 saliva-sample tests from machines in each terminal in the airport. The tests, which are designed by Wellness 4 Humanity, allow users to send saliva samples via mail for testing. Results typically come within 48 hours of the test being received, according to Wellness 4 Humanity's website (Lu, Los Angeles Times, 1/29).
  • Florida: Suzie Dorner, a nurse manager at Tampa General Hospital, has been named as an honorary captain for Super Bowl LV, representing "the thousands of health care workers across the country and across the world [who] have risked their own lives for the sake of our own," the National Football League announced last week. Dorner will serve as honorary captain alongside Trimaine Davis, a teacher from Los Angeles, and James Martin, a Marines Corp veteran from Pittsburgh. All three will participate in the on-field coin toss ceremony before the game (Gooch, Becker's Hospital Review, 1/28).
  • Oklahoma: Jake Henry, president and CEO of Saint Francis Health System, plans to retire on June 30 after leading the health system for roughly the past 19 years. Since Henry became president and CEO, Saint Francis has grown significantly, adding Saint Francis Hospital South, Saint Francis Hospital Vinita, and the Saint Francis Glenpool healthplex (Gooch, Becker's Hospital Review, 1/28).
