Around the nation: Kaiser Permanente will cover MinuteClinic visits when members travel

The move will allow members to receive services and prescriptions at their standard co-payment rate through MinuteClinic locations in certain CVS and Target stores, in today's bite-sized hospital and health industry news from California, Missouri, New York, and Texas.

  • California: Kaiser Permanente has announced that it is partnering with CVS Health's MinuteClinic to cover services for members who travel outside the company's geographic area. The move will allow members to receive services and prescriptions at their standard co-payment rate through MinuteClinic locations in certain CVS and Target stores without having to file for reimbursement. Members who visit MinuteClinics in eight states where Kaiser operates will still have to file for reimbursement (Truong, MedCity News, 7/23).
  • Missouri/Texas: Andy Davis will serve as president and CEO of Ascension Texas, the St. Louis-based health system announced. Davis, who has served as interim CEO since July 1, will also serve as senior VP at Ascension. Davis has worked at Ascension for 13 years. Previously, he served as COO of the Texas region (Vaidya, Becker's Hospital Review, 7/23).
  • New York: St. Luke Health Services and telemedicine provider Curvai Health have partnered on a program that will offer patients virtual care 24 hours per day. Through the program, Curvai Health physicians will examine St. Luke's patients using video and digital diagnostic equipment. The program will be funded by a $246,000 grant from the Central New York Care Collaborative Innovation Fund (Drees, Becker's Hospital Review, 7/22).
