For its analysis, Forbes Advisor looked at healthcare costs by state using KFF.org's healthcare expenditure data, averaging out the available 2018-2020 data.
Healthcare costs include a person's insurance premium, deductible, copayments, coinsurance, and out-of-pocket expenses.
The five states with the highest healthcare costs were:
1. Alaska ($13,187.67)
2. New York ($13,012.33)
3. Massachusetts ($12,754.33)
4. Delaware ($12,294.33)
5. Vermont ($12,237.33)
Meanwhile, the five states with the lowest healthcare costs were:
50. Utah ($7,241.00)
49. Idaho ($7,771.67)
48. Texas ($8.048.33)
47. Nevada ($8,118.00)
46. Arizona ($8,239.00)
