The best healthcare companies to work for, according to US News

U.S. News & World Report on Tuesday released its first-ever list of the Best Companies to Work For: Private Companies to accompany its overall Best Companies to Work For list originally released in June. Here are the healthcare companies that made the list.

Methodology

For the overall Best Companies to Work For list, U.S. News considered a mix of publicly traded companies, privately owned companies, and nonprofit organizations with global headquarters in the United States.

Companies eligible for the public companies list were companies in the Russell 3000 index as of June 2023 with a minimum of 75 U.S.-based Glassdoor reviews between 2020 and 2023.

Meanwhile, companies eligible for the private companies list were nonpublicly traded companies with more than 5,000 employees and more than $500 million in annual revenue, as defined by Crunchbase, U.S. News' data provider. These companies must also have at least 75 U.S.-based Glassdoor reviews between 2020 and 2023. Any companies that are owned or funded by one or more public companies or subsidiaries of public companies were disqualified from the private companies list.

For both the public and private companies lists, U.S. News calculated a score for each company, looking at six metrics and gathering data from Revelio Labs, Good Jobs First, and publicly available benefits data:

  • ·Quality of pay and benefits (weighted at 23.35% for the public companies list and 22.99% for the private companies list)
  • Work/life balance and flexibility (weighted at 20.96% for the public companies list and 20.57% for the private companies list)
  • Job and company stability (weighted at 17.55% for the public companies list and 17.5% for the private companies list)
  • Physical and psychological comfort (weighted at 16.02% for the public companies list and 16.27% for the private companies list)
  • Belongingness and esteem (weighted at 11.08% for the public companies list and 11.53% for the private companies list)
  •  Career opportunities and professional development (weighted at 11.04% for the public companies list and 11.14% for the private companies list)
