Healthgrades on Tuesday released its annual "America's Best Hospitals Awards," which recognizes the top 250 hospitals in the country.
The America's Best Hospitals list encompasses three awards:
To determine the winners, Healthgrades used Medicare data from 2021-2023 to evaluate roughly 4,500 hospitals on how well they performed in 30 of the most common procedures and conditions.
"While there are several factors to consider when looking for a doctor, hospital quality is one that can have a critical impact on a patient's overall quality of care," said Brad Bowman, CMO and head of data science at Healthgrades. "That's why Healthgrades remains committed to helping patients find top-performing hospitals in their area. We want all patients to feel as confident and equipped as possible when it comes to choosing a doctor and hospital."
According to Healthgrades, if all hospitals performed similarly to those on the America's 250 Best Hospitals list, 174,081 lives could have been saved.
Advisory Board congratulates the 83 member hospitals named among America's 250 Best Hospitals. One star denotes a hospital among the 50 Best Hospitals, and two stars denote a hospital among the 100 Best Hospitals:
