By: Rae Woods and Abby Burns, Co-hosts of Radio Advisory
The Radio Advisory podcast is celebrating five years of exploring complex challenges facing healthcare. As we reflect on 245 episodes (and over 1.5 million downloads!), we asked some members of the Radio Advisory team to share their favorite episodes from the past year. Here's what they said.
Rae Woods, host and executive producer
Ep. 221: How will health system growth look different in 2025 and beyond?
If there was a perfect episode of Radio Advisory, it would be this one. Amid all the flashpoints hitting the industry today it's important that we guide leaders toward the future state of healthcare business. In this episode, Abby and her guests describe the new reality for health system growth and note how academics and safety nets; urban and rural systems; and 1,000-bed systems and 10-bed critical access hospitals can capitalize on the nature of their market to pursue the right kind of growth in 2025.

Episode 231: Big deal, little deal, or no deal? A 2024 health policy retrospective.
So many things happen in the world of health policy that it can be tough to keep a pulse on what to pay attention to, how much it matters, and, critically, who it matters for. I love this episode because our experts cut straight through the noise to put three policy updates in context and frame how to think about them moving forward. My only complaint is that I wish we could have covered more topics!
Katy Anderson, producer & editor
Bringing this story to life on the podcast was such a great privilege — it really showcases the profound dedication of healthcare providers to their patients and communities. We also had some fun on the technical side in this episode by deviating from our typical format and flexing our technical and storytelling skills, which is something I'd love to explore more in the future!

Ep. 232: The rise of ICHRAs: Why some employers are turning to the individual market
I didn't know much about ICHRAs before this episode, if anything at all. And to be honest, it's probably not something I would have looked up on my own time — most of my research is concentrated in the pharmacy space. But by the end of this episode, I had a clear understanding of what ICHRAs are, their role in the payer marketplace, and why they matter to the broader healthcare landscape.

Radio Advisory 205: Four leaders on how technology is redefining clinical work
Radio Advisory "hits the road" a few times a year to bring the conversation to health leaders. Last year, Rae hosted an episode at ViVE and brought together two important topics in healthcare: burnout and AI. There are two important things that I appreciate most about this episode. The first was the fact that we "went there" on important issues facing every healthcare organization today. Radio Advisory likes to bring real and honest conversations to the podcast, and this was one that hit the bullseye for me. You'll hear insights from people working within the industry right now and a lot of great advice. The second was the energy of the guests on the main stage and the attendees in the audience. You can even hear the audience and their reactions throughout the recording — it'll feel like you were in the conference hall. It was a great time and a great conversation worth listening to.

Ep. 222: It's not just GLP-1s; here's what comprehensive weight management looks like
I love this episode because it covers a new side of a hot topic. There's no shortage of conversation about GLP-1s, but they really are only one part of the story when it comes to weight management. This episode showcases how our research can push far beyond the headlines and help leaders think more holistically — arguably one of our most important jobs here at Advisory Board and Radio Advisory. Plus, two members of the podcast starring in the same episode as guests? How can it get better than that?
