Surgery margin and demand pressures are top-of-mind for health system leaders. These pressures are poised to continue given ageing populations and supply shortages across the globe. While a traditional margin and demand management playbook is still critical, the last several years have also brought about a sea of new technologies that help providers solve these pressing issues.

After a year of research and interviews with surgery leaders around the world, we identified four surgery-specific problems that organizations are prioritizing. We also identified technologies they are using to mitigate each problem (and their evidence), and solutions to implementation barriers for each one.
