The best healthcare companies for career growth, according to LinkedIn

LinkedIn earlier this month released its "50 best large employers to grow your career in the U.S." list, which included 10 healthcare companies. Here's who made the list.

Methodology

For the list, LinkedIn used its own data to rank companies based on eight pillars "that have been shown to lead to career progression."

These eight pillars are:

  • Ability to advance, which tracks employee promotions within a company and when they move to a new company, based on standardized job titles.
  • Skills growth, which looks at how employees across the company are gaining skills while employed, using standardized LinkedIn skills.
  • Company stability, which tracks attrition over the past year and the percentage of employees that stay at the company for at least three years.
  • External opportunity, which tracks recruiter outreach across employees at the company, signaling demand for workers coming from those companies.
  • Company affinity, which measures how supportive a company's culture is by looking at connection volume on LinkedIn among employees, controlled for a company's size.
  • Gender diversity, which measures gender parity within a company and its subsidiaries.
  • Educational background, which looks at the variety of educational attainment among employees, from no degree to Ph.D. levels.
  • Employee presence, which looks at the company's number of employees in the country relative to other companies as a way to capture companies that provide a diverse work environment and more opportunities for career advancement and networking.

To be eligible for the list, companies must have had 5,000 or more global employees with at least 500 in the United States as of Dec. 31, 2024. Attrition could have been no higher than 10% over the methodology period, based on LinkedIn data, and organizations that had layoffs of 10% or more based on corporate announcements or public, reliable sources between Jan. 1, 2024, and the launch of the list were not eligible.

The list excludes all staffing and recruiting firms, educational institutions, and government agencies, as well as LinkedIn itself and its parent company, Microsoft and Microsoft's subsidiaries.
